Born
in Fort Liberte, Haiti; Frank Joseph better known as Brother
“J” began his exploration of music with a gift given to him
from his father Pastor Francis Joseph three decades ago.
During one of his many visits to Haiti from the Bahamas
Pastor Francis Sr, brought home a harmonica for his son and
instantly his passion for music was born. It did not take
long until Brother “J” mastered playing the harmonica. In
1979, he moved to the Bahamas to live with his father, there
he explored a new instrument- the guitar. Four years later,
he formed the group New Direction, a 7-member band. Under
his leadership, New Direction ministered the good news of
Jesus Christ at events and local churches. Brother “J” led
this for four years until he made the decision to move to
South Florida in 1986, after he graduated high school. In
pursuit of a higher education, he soon enrolled at ABCI
Technical Institute in Pompano Beach, Florida.
It was Bishop Moss of First Christian Church by Faith that
reminded Brother “J” of God’s promise. The vision that God
gave him was to have a music ministry that will save the
lost and heal the hurting. His devotion for music and love
for the gospel inspired him to reform the group “New
Direction”. The band had new members and it was evident that
the vision God placed in Brother J’s heart for his music
ministry was one of excellence, perseverance and commitment
for the gospel.
Although the group worked tirelessly to produce an album, it
never materialized. Nonetheless, his vision for spreading
the gospel through music never died. His words…
“A vision is rooted in a place where storms and situations
of life cannot uproot its originality and shake its
foundation.
A bright light that leads the road ahead, for those who so
acquire propels a vision.
A vision becoming a reality is executed by the
accomplishment of this very album”
